Mel Brooks is making sure he’ll be in the new “Spaceballs” movie.

The legendary actor and filmmaker apparently asked to film his scenes for “Spaceballs: The New One” before the rest of the cast because he was 100, co-star Daphne Zuniga, who plays Princess Vespa, said.

“It was his idea,” Zuniga said Sunday during a panel in Hartford, Connecticut. “You better film me now because I’m 100.”

Brooks, who turned 100 in June, worked with the film’s writers and remains a “big influence” on the sequel, Zuniga said.

The movie reunites Brooks with Zuniga, Rick Moranis and Bill Pullman, who starred in the 1987 original.

“Spaceballs: The New One” is scheduled to open April 23, 2027.

Brooks, known for his films “The Producers,” “Blazing Saddles” and “Young Frankenstein,” is among a small group of entertainers to have won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.

As he celebrated his 100th birthday earlier this year, Brooks reflected on his legacy and career. He said he doesn’t think much about his mortality, saying laughingly, “I gave up after 60 thinking about it because if I did, I’d be thinking about it all the time. So I don’t think about it much. When and if it happens it’s going to be a sad day — for everybody but me.”

“I enjoy living,” he added. “I’d like to do it as long as I can.”
